Bardia Nepal Tour

Nepal is not only known for trekking in snow-capped Himalayas but also for exquisite Jungle Safari through the pristine National parks. The geography of Nepal is such that the northern side has Himalaya’s whereas the southern lowland commonly known as Terai is densely vegetated with tropical forests providing habitat to diverse variety of wildlife, flora and different native as well as migratory birds.

Nepal has got some of the exotic Jungle Safari destinations in the world. With 14 national parks and wildlife reserves in Nepal, Chitwan National Park, Bardia National Park and Koshi Tappu Wildlife reserve are best known for the activity of Jungle Safari. Bardia national park tour provides habitat to different rare and endangered wild species which includes Royal Bengal Tiger, One horned Rhino, four horned antelope, striped hyena and many others with 550 species of birds.

Bardia National Park, Nepal is the largest untouched wilderness in the Terai region of Nepal. The park protects 968 sq km of sal forest and whispering grassland, bordering the Geruwa and Karnali Rivers. The atmosphere is wonderfully tranquil and with the current slump in tourism, you may well have the whole place to yourself. There are estimated to be around 22 royal Bengal tigers and 100 one-horned rhinos at Bardia but these animals are elusive and sightings are rare.

Other mammals in the park include grey langurs, rhesus macaques, leopards, civets, hyenas, sloth bears and barking, spotted, sambar and hog deer. Bardia also has more than 250 species of birds, including the endangered Bengal florican and sarus crane. Gharial and marsh mugger crocodiles and gigantic dolphins are occasionally spotted on rafting and canoe trips along the Geruwa River. Be warned that Maoist rebels are active on the fringes of the national park. Visitor numbers have plummeted since the start of the insurgency and most people visit on organized tours, which only run when the army and rebels are observing a ceasefire. These parks are easily accessible via road or air both. Many adventurers also take rafting before heading to safari trip. This safari trip will be an extraordinary experience which you will remember for your lifetime.

Besides the wilderness of the Bardiya region , there is also an exciting civilization (mostly Tharu Ethnicity) to explore. The beautiful countryside and the happy faces of the locals gets you driven away. Bardiya is mainly inhabited by the indigenous Danguara Tharu people. They have their own culture, traditions, language and lifestyle. While exploring the countryside you get to witness the uniquely designed Tharu houses, most of which are constructed with locally available raw materials such as Reed and Bamboo covered by mud or dung. Walking through the rice fields or cycling through the bank of the river gives a certain feeling of rejuvenation one can’t easily get enough of. Going out with Tharu women for Fishing, farming and of course enjoying the delicious traditional cuisines will stick to your memories forever. A short walk in the evening through the village while tasting the locally made Rice Beer and dancing to the traditional folk songs is one hell of an experience. You can also spend the night in the beautiful tree house watching the sunset in the far edge of smoked blurry rice fields.

The WWF is working together here with the inhabitants of the village to conserve this area and the local Tharu people are hustling to maintain their originality and offer a unique experience to the Guests who show up in the locality.
